Typically, Tulou has only one door, no windows on the ground floor. On the upper floors, the windows are made of wood, about 5-6cm thick. The exterior is reinforced with iron sheets. Each Tulou bears the unique cultural and historical characteristics of Chinese culture.

4.3. Xiamen

  • Hokkien braised duck: In the restaurants of Fujian province, braised duck is a delicious and unique dish. This dish is different from many other places because the duck is cooked in the Hokkien way and uses less oil so diners don't feel greasy. After cleaning, the duck meat is cut into pieces and then braised with the region's typical sauce and spices. When cooked, the duck has an attractive aroma and is eaten with soy sauce mixed with garlic, vegetables and pickles.
