Located at the heart of Huu Lung District, Met Town is not only a cultural hub but also the perfect base for exploring natural and spiritual attractions in the region.

2.1 Dong Lam Prairie

Dong Lam Prairie is located in Huu Lien Commune, Huu Lung District, about 20–25 km north of Met Town via Provincial Road 243. Covering an area of approximately 100 hectares, this prairie is dubbed “Miniature Mongolia” with its green grasslands, winding streams, and surrounding limestone mountains. At Dong Lam Prairie, you can camp, take “Instagram-worthy” photos, or simply walk around and enjoy the fresh air.

2.2 Bac Le Temple

Located in Tan Thanh Commune, Huu Lung District, Bac Le Temple is one of the most sacred temples in Lang Son, dedicated to Mau Thuong Ngan (Mountain Goddess) and other deities in the Four Palaces belief system. Vietnamese visitors often come to offer incense, pray for peace and prosperity. You can also experience the spiritual atmosphere and hear local legends about Mau Thuong Ngan.

2.3 Mo Ma Stream

Situated in Yen Thinh Commune, about 20 km northwest of Met Town, Mo Ma Stream flows naturally through limestone mountains. The stream features cool, crystal-clear water surrounded by wild forests. Ideal for nature lovers, you can dip in the refreshing water, enjoy a picnic by the stream, or simply relax with family and friends. The surrounding rocky terrain also offers easy hikes and panoramic views.

2.4 Huu Lien Ecotourism Village

About 20–25 km from Met Town, Huu Lien Ecotourism Village is a well-known community-based tourism area inhabited by ethnic minorities like Tay, Dao, and Nung. Tourists are drawn to the village for its combination of pristine nature (Huu Lien Nature Reserve) and rich local culture. Cultural activities include watching traditional dances, listening to "then" singing, dressing in Tay or Dao ethnic costumes, and enjoying specialties such as grilled fermented pork (nem nuong), fried stream fish, pumpkin cakes, and forest vegetables.

3. What to Eat in Met Town?

Met Town is not only known for its natural scenery but also for its rich highland cuisine that delights every visitor. Here are some must-try dishes:

  • Roast Pork with Mac Mat Leaves: A famous dish of Huu Lung made from free-range pigs. The pork is marinated and stuffed with mac mat leaves—an aromatic Northern herb—then roasted over charcoal until the skin is golden and crispy, and the meat juicy. Served with fresh greens and chili garlic fish sauce.
  • Roast Duck: Made from naturally raised grass ducks. The duck is cleaned, marinated with honey, mac mat leaves, and secret spices, then roasted over charcoal until crispy golden outside and tender inside.
  • Sour Pho: Unlike traditional noodle soup, Lang Son’s sour pho consists of two parts: dry ingredients (noodles, char siu pork, fried sweet potatoes, roasted peanuts, fried shallots) and a sweet-sour sauce made from vinegar, sugar, garlic, and chili.
  • Crispy Fried Stream Fish: Small fish caught from natural streams like Mo Ma Stream, cleaned, marinated with salt and chili, then fried golden in hot oil. Super crispy and flavorful, even the bones can be eaten.
  • Grilled Fermented Pork (Nem Nuong Huu Lung): Made from finely minced pork mixed with toasted rice powder, garlic, chili, and mac mat leaves, wrapped in banana leaves and grilled over charcoal. The aroma, fat-rich meat, and smoky banana leaves blend beautifully. Served with dipping fish sauce or chili salt.
