1. Introduction to Paradise Cave in Quang Binh

Paradise Cave (Hang Thien Duong) is a popular tourist destination located within the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park ecosystem, in Bo Trach District, Quang Binh Province. With its majestic cave system divided into multiple chambers – the highest point reaching 100 meters and the widest up to 150 meters – Paradise Cave consistently ranks among the most attractive destinations for both domestic and international travelers.

The cave lies at an elevation of approximately 360 meters above sea level, with a temperature difference of 9–10°C compared to the outside.

It was discovered in 2005 by members of the British Cave Research Association, and its full length was announced to be 31.4 kilometers, making it the longest dry cave in Asia. The name "Paradise" comes from the breathtaking stalactites and stalagmites found within. The cave is also recognized as one of the most beautiful caves in Quang Binh.

Paradise Cave is located in the core zone of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park.

Although the cave entrance is rather small—just enough for one person to descend—visitors are stunned by the grandeur and magnificence that unfolds inside, like stepping into a paradise shaped by nature. Since 2009, Paradise Cave has been developed into an ecotourism destination, welcoming thousands of visitors each year.

Location: Son Trach Commune, Bo Trach District, Quang Binh Province, about 60 km northwest of Dong Hoi City.

Opening hours: Summer: 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Winter: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

2. Best Time to Explore Paradise Cave

The climate around Paradise Cave in Quang Binh is clearly divided between the dry and rainy seasons. The dry season usually lasts from April to August, while the rainy season begins in September and ends in March of the following year. Since most activities at Paradise Cave are outdoor sightseeing and exploration, the dry season is considered the best time to visit. According to many travelers, the most pleasant time with cool and comfortable weather is from April to June.

3. How to Get to Paradise Cave

3.1 Getting to Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh

First, visitors need to travel to Dong Hoi City, the capital of Quang Binh Province, as a stopover before heading to Bo Trach District, where Paradise Cave is located. There are several transportation options:

  • By Plane: The fastest and most time-efficient option. You can book domestic flights to Quang Binh. Vietjet frequently offers promotional fares to Dong Hoi City starting from 449,000 VND (excluding taxes and fees).
  • By Train: If departing from Hanoi, traveling by train is also convenient. Tickets from Hanoi to Dong Hoi range from 400,000 to 800,000 VND/person, depending on the seat or berth. From Ho Chi Minh City, ticket prices range from 650,000 to 1,200,000 VND/person.
  • By Sleeper Bus: This is a longer journey, especially from faraway provinces. From Hanoi, ticket prices range from 300,000 to 550,000 VND, and from Ho Chi Minh City, 500,000 to 700,000 VND. Travel time can be close to a full day.

3.2 From Dong Hoi City to Paradise Cave

From Dong Hoi City, you have several transportation options to reach Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park and Paradise Cave:

  • By Bus: A cost-effective option. Route B4 operates 14–16 trips per day, with a frequency of every 30 minutes. Tickets cost 35,000 VND/person and take you from Dong Hoi to Phong Nha – Ke Bang.
  • By Motorbike: You can rent a motorbike from your hotel or a local rental service in Dong Hoi. The rental price is around 100,000 VND per day, and the journey follows Ho Chi Minh Road, covering about 65 km.

3.3 Reaching the Entrance of Paradise Cave

After arriving at Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park and the Paradise Cave Eco-tourism area, you’ll need to continue from the ticket checkpoint to the foot of the mountain. There are two main ways to get there:

By Electric Cart: Ideal for families with children or elderly people, this method is more convenient and time-saving. Along the way, you’ll pass through lush primary forest and observe the vibrant local vegetation. Prices vary depending on the cart size:

  • 4-seat electric cart: One-way: 60,000 VND/person. Round trip: 100,000 VND/person
  • 6-seat electric cart: One-way: 90,000 VND/person. Round trip: 150,000 VND/person

By Forest Walk: For adventurous visitors who enjoy trekking, you can choose to hike 1 km through the Phong Nha forest to reach the foot of the mountain.

Once at the foot of the mountain, you’ll complete your journey to Paradise Cave’s entrance by climbing 500 stone steps.
