3. The formation and development process of Tho Xuan Airport
Tho Xuan Airport was built in 1965 with the aim of expanding the air front of the 923rd Air Force Regiment to the South of Zone Four, and was directly managed by the 923rd Fighter-Bomber Regiment. At that time, the airport was named Sao Vang Airport and was a first-class military airport in our country.
On February 5, 2013, the first civilian flight from Ho Chi Minh City landed at Thanh Hoa Airport, marking a new development period for the airport. Since then, Sao Vang Military Airport has been renamed Tho Xuan Airport.
On December 28, 2014, the Vietnam Airports Corporation launched the construction project of the "Civil Aviation Area - Tho Xuan Airport" with an investment of nearly 600 billion. By January 30, 2016, the project was put into operation.
