Taxis, ride-hailing services, buses, and urban rail are convenient options for getting around Hanoi. In the Old Quarter and around Hoan Kiem Lake, walking is quite suitable; if you are visiting many distant attractions, taxis or ride-hailing services will be more flexible.

At some traditional markets, souvenir shops, and small stores in the Old Quarter, you can ask for the price first and negotiate a suitable price. In shopping malls, supermarkets, and stores with fixed prices, you do not need to bargain.

Hanoi is famous for pho, bun cha, banh cuon, cha ca, bun thang, and many street foods. You should choose busy eateries, areas with clean preparation, and prioritize dishes that are cooked and served hot on-site.

From September to November and from March to April are beautiful times to explore Hanoi, when the weather is relatively cool and pleasant. Autumn is particularly suitable for walking around the lake, exploring the Old Quarter, and visiting historical and cultural sites.

Hanoi is generally a safe and friendly destination for travelers. When visiting the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake area, night markets, or crowded places, you should pay attention to safeguarding your belongings and be careful when crossing the street due to high traffic density.
