Kazakhstan is a beautiful land in Central Asia with countless fascinating experiences to explore.
According to the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, starting from June 13, 2023, Vietnamese citizens can enter Kazakhstan without a visa for tourism, business, or visiting relatives.
However, you will need a visa if:
You plan to stay in Kazakhstan for more than 30 days from your date of entry
You plan to stay more than 90 days within any 180-day period

For Vietnamese citizens entering Kazakhstan, it is only required to have a passport valid for at least 6 months with at least 2 blank pages for entry and exit stamps.
Note: Kazakhstan offers visa-free entry for Vietnamese citizens for up to 30 days. Therefore, if you plan to stay longer than 30 days, you must apply for an appropriate visa before your trip.

To travel to Kazakhstan, Vietnamese citizens must hold a passport valid for at least 6 months. You can now conveniently apply for a passport online through the Ministry of Public Security's official portal. Just prepare a portrait photo and front/back photos of your Citizen ID, then follow these steps:
Step-by-step guide:
Step 1: Go to https://dichvucong.bocongan.gov.vn/
Step 2: Log in with your National Public Service Portal account or via VNeID
Step 3: Choose “Nộp hồ sơ trực tuyến” (Submit online application)
Step 4: From the list, select “Cấp hộ chiếu phổ thông” (Issue ordinary passport)
Step 5: Click "Nộp hồ sơ" (Submit application)
Step 6: Choose the appropriate immigration office and proceed
Step 7: Upload your photos, fill in personal details
Step 8: Submit the form to complete your application
If you plan to stay longer than 30 days, don’t have a Vietnamese passport, or come from a country not on Kazakhstan’s visa-exempt list, you must apply for a visa in advance.
You can easily apply for an e-visa through Kazakhstan’s official visa portal:
Step 1: Visit https://www.vmp.gov.kz/en/services/visa-service
Step 2: Log in or create an account using your email
Step 3: Once verified, go to “E-visa service”
Step 4: Select your nationality and visa type → click “Get Visa”
Step 5: Fill in your personal information accurately
Step 6: Review and confirm details → click “Next” to proceed to payment
Step 7: Choose a payment method and pay the non-refundable visa fee (USD 60–80 ≈ 1,500,000–2,000,000 VND)
Step 8: Wait for results (usually within 5 business days)
Note: E-visas are only valid for entry via Almaty International Airport or Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport. You must print your e-visa and present it during immigration.
If you apply for a visa directly, the documents you need to prepare include:
Completed visa application form (color or B&W photo 3.5 x 4.5 cm attached). Download from: https://vmp.gov.kz/en/
Visa invitation letter with ID and date (must be registered with the Kazakhstan Ministry of Internal Affairs or MFA), or self-written letter stating travel purpose
Valid passport (minimum 3 months validity, at least 2 blank pages)
Proof of visa/consular fee payment
Additional documents if required: Invitation letter from a Kazakhstan citizen or organization, Last 3 months' bank statements, Employment proof, etc.
