Important notice regarding checked baggage inspection regulations at Thailand airports

Dear Valued Passengers,

In accordance with the regulations of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), effective 16 October 2026, for flights departing from Thailand, airport security personnel are authorized to open and inspect checked baggage without the presence of the passenger or baggage owner if there are reasonable grounds to suspect that the baggage contains suspicious items, explosives, dangerous goods, or items prohibited from air transport.

Please be advised of the following:

  • Baggage inspections will be video-recorded in accordance with applicable regulations. Upon completion of the inspection, a “Notice of Baggage Inspection” will be placed inside the baggage.
  • Prohibited, dangerous, or suspicious items may be confiscated and will not be returned.
  • Where necessary, security personnel may open or break the baggage lock to conduct security inspections. Damage to baggage locks resulting from inspections carried out under the relevant authority is not eligible for compensation under this notice.

To protect your belongings and ensure a smooth check-in process, please:

  • Avoid placing valuables, fragile items, or essential belongings in checked baggage.
  • It is recommended that passengers use TSA-recognized luggage locks to minimize the risk of damage to their baggage during security inspections.
  • Check the regulations on the carriage of lithium batteries and power banks before packing.

Vietjet recommends that passengers check their baggage before departure to ensure compliance with aviation security regulations.

Thank you for choosing Vietjet !
