Vietjet Thailand starts operations to India

Bihar, December 4, 2014 – The joint venture Vietjet Thailand operated its first flight from Bangkok in Thailand to Bohd Gaya in India today.

Passengers on board included monks and Buddhists from Vietnam and Thailand travelling to Bihar state in India for the ground breaking ceremony of a project in Venu Van, which involves planting 1,250 bamboo trees.

Venu Van was built under the reign of Bimbisara King in the sixth century BC and gifted to Gautama Buddha in order to make it easier for his devotees to visit him.

At the ground breaking ceremony, distinguished guests included the Governor of Bihar, State Ministers, and other Indian authorities.

The flight was warmly welcomed and greatly appreciated by the local authorities and people of Bihar for helping to fly the flag for the ongoing conservation and reparation of sacred Buddhist relics. The ceremony also honored the 87th birthday celebrations of the King of Thailand Bhumipol Adulyadej on December 5, 2014.

Besides its business operations, Vietjet is wholeheartedly committed to making a positive contribution to society and local communities.

From the beginning of January, Vietjet Thailand will operate regular and charter flights every Saturday to serve the growing demand from monks and Buddhists from Vietnam and Thailand looking to travel to Bohd Gaya. Those travelling from Vietnam will transit in Bangkok.
