Traditional ‘On-Air’ Performance to Celebrate the 3 Millionth Passenger of Vietjet Air

On 22 September 2013, the new extension of Phu Bai International Airport has officially been in operation. To celebrate this occasion, Vietjet Air has also relaunched the Ho Chi Minh City – Hue route and welcomed in the inaugural flight its 3 millionth passenger.

Mr Duong Chau Toan was unknowingly identified as the 3 millionth passenger of VietJetAir when he boarded the flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok on 13 September 2013. For this special reason, he became the centre of attraction of passengers on the flight VJ8370 from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue and the honourable guest at the inaugural ceremony.

Not only excited by the appearance of Mr Duong Chau Toan, passengers were equally surprised when they received from him 'non bai tho', the traditional conical hat from Hue. 

 Mr Duong Chau Toan and the cabin crew handed out 'non bai tho'. 

Passengers were excited by the meaningful souvenirs. For generations, the hat, with its conical shape and silken strap, has not only been the essential accessories of women in Hue, the maker of their beauty and charm but also the artistic inspiration for those who fall in love its owner.

To further the meaning of the souvenir and to promote the old imperial culture of Hue, VietJetAir also offered to Mr Duong Chau Toan and other passengers on the flight a performance of music, dance, images, soul and tradition.

… in the graceful violet of 'ao dai'… 

… and the 'non bai tho'… 

… with a song from Phuong Thuy, a singer of Phu Sa band, everything to create the dreamy but serene of Hue.

With this preparation, VietJetAir aimed to bring a local spice from the culture-rich imperial city of Hue to every passenger on the flight. For the special guest, Mr Duong Chau Toan, he was presented with the '3 millionth passenger' Memorial Cup by the Minister of Transport, Mr Dinh La Thang, and the right to travel for free on all the domestic and international routes of VietjetAir for 1 year. The Vice Prime Minister, H.E Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, H.E Huynh Ngoc Son, and other delegates also came to share his joy at the ceremony.

Mr Duong Chau Toan received gifts from Mr Dinh La Thang and the Board of VietjetAir.

The inaugural flight has proven once again the effort of VietJetAir in bringing memorable experience to its passengers. In future, the airline will announce more routes and launch more promotional campaigns to offer customers with affordable and convenient mean of transport.
